What do I get with MyCreativity?
Rules engine
MyCreativity is a high performance rules engine for Southbeach Modeller. As you click around or edit the current model, output is generated according to rules that you create and phrases that you supply. It's like having your own modeling tutor.
Create and combine rules to provide 'applications' such as:
- Suggestions for how to extend and improve a model to add more detail
- Questions to prompt creative thoughts and generate ideas
- Directions for problem solving, solutions and innovation
Rules match the model elements (notation pattern) at the point in the diagram where your analysis is focussed. Output is generated according to the 'extent' you select.
The rules engine is able to generate hundreds of lines of output in response to individual mouse clicks and model edits - although typically it is more focussed. The output is kept up to date as you refine and edit the model.
Hierachical rules browser
Organize your rules. When you activate the license, a new tab will appear on the left in the Modeller Toolbox. Arranged hierarchically, it provides check boxes for enabling or disabling rule sets. The hierarchy is arranged according to the names you give to rules.
Combine rules sets according to your current task. For example, combine an 'improvement' rule set with a 'root cause analysis' root set.
Model creativity
Another new tab - model creativity - appears on the right in the Properties panel. The rules you write in this tab are saved with the model. They are shared with colleagues if you send them the model file. They can be turned on or off by selecting the -model category in the hierachy.
Combine these rules with any other. For example, to extend 'improvement' rules that work well in one model, with 'improvement' rules in a current model.
Also this this tab for quickly writing rules before storing them for reuse, for testing rules, or other ad-hoc creative tasks.
The hierachy contains a right mouse menu for enabling or disabling all rules, and for expanding or collapsing the hierarchy.
Control of creative output
A right mouse menu in the creativity output panel gives control over:
- Extent: Fire rules that match the model elements and effects where you click, or expand the scope as required. (Laser, Narrow, Wide, Wider, Widest)
- Copy creative output to the clipboard - for example to include in a report, in email, or on the web.
- Clear the output generated so far.
- Create new agents in the model directly from the generated output.
- Control the format of the output text. Choose numbered or unnumbered statements. Set the font size. Determine how model elements are quoted in the output text. Select single or double line spacing.
- Reload creativity. This reads all rules files and refreshes the hierachy. Use after an editing session.
